Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan discussed the importance of local government units as crucial players in the country’s economic development through their participation in the development of the local competitiveness index. The National Competitiveness Council announced the top three most competitive cities overall are Makati tied with Cagayan De Oro, Misamis Oriental, and Naga. For the municipalities, Daet, Camarines Norte topped the list, followed by General Trias, Cavite and San Pedro, Laguna.
