The Regional Development Council (RDC) conducted its 2nd Quarter Full Council Meeting on June 11 at the Department of Agriculture (DA)-STIARC, Marauoy, Lipa City. Around 30 resolutions were passed during the meeting and among these are the following: (a) guidelines for the Regional Search for Outstanding Gender and Development Implementer; (b) DILG endorsement of Migration and Development Convergence Program to the cities and municipalities; (c) creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) on Paete Wood Carving Industry to assist the municipality of Paete in addressing the sustainability and profitability concerns of the woodcarving industry; (d) support to K to 12 program implementation; (e) Regional Nutrition Cluster for Emergencies and Disasters; and (f) Adhoc Committee on Academe-Industry Linkage.
The Council also commended the City Government of Calamba for its legislative initiatives and effective implementation of programs and projects on breastfeeding.
Among the projects endorsed by the Council were the Marikina River Basin Masterplan, Macalelon Small Reservoir Irrigation Project, and Widening of Sabang and Tingga Bridges. All these are in support to the Calabarzon Regional Development Plan 2011-2016.
In support of the National Coin Recirculation Program of the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP), lower denominated coins pooled by the RDC members were turned over to Director Tomas J. Cariño, Jr. of the BSP-Lucena. The RDC members were encouraged to continue collecting denominated coins to be turned over to BSP during the succeeding RDC Full Council meetings.
