In recognition for the outstanding achievements of the  two  members of  the Regional Development Council (RDC)  Region VI, RDC  head  Governor Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. of Negros Occidental, bestowed plaques of commendation to Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog of Iloilo City and DOST Regional Director Rowen R. Gelonga during the 1st Quarter RDC VI Meeting on March 20  held at the Main Conference Hall of the NEDA Building in Iloilo City.

Mayor Mabilog was earlier recognized by the Philanthropic City Mayors Foundation  as one of the Top 5 World Mayor for 2014  while Director Gelonga, Economic Development Committee (EDC) Chairperson was earlier awarded the  Gawad Career Executive Service Award for 2013.

The World Mayor Project, launched in January 2004 and is given every two years thereafter, seeks to raise the profile of mayors worldwide by commending those who have worked hard for their communities, governed openly and honestly as well as made important contributions to cities nationally and internationally. Mayor Mabilog was chosen 5th out of the  993 nominated mayors worldwide.

On the other hand, the Gawad Career Executive Service Presidential Award is an award that is open to all career executive service officers (CEO/CESO) or third level career executive service eligibles (CES-E) or career service executive eligibles (CSEE) who are presidential appointees and appointed to CES positions. The awardees are  recognized for their exemplary performance and significant involvement in the area of social services, administrative reforms, innovation, public policy information, and communication technology. They are  aspiring leaders who help improve lives.  Director  Gelonga  hurdled the screening process by the validation teams from the Career Executive Board (CESB), previous GAWAD CES Awardees, and the Committee on Awards.
