The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) IX  convened on July 16  at Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City, as it gears up for the preparation of the Regional Spatial Development Framework (RSDF), 2015-2045.

With inputs from regional line agencies, local government units (LGUs) and other stakeholders, the RLUC IX Secretariat presented the Draft Analysis of the Planning Environment. This is an outcome  of the training workshop on the formulation of Disaster Risk Reduction /Climate Change Adaption (DRR/CCA)-enhanced chapter of the Regional Physical Framework Plan (RPFP) conducted by the committee last year.

The formulation of the RSDF shall be aligned with the National Spatial Strategy which is guided by the development vision of inclusive growth and based on the assessment of spatial distribution, focusing on connectivity, concentration and vulnerability reduction. The RSDF shall likewise be supportive of the attainment of goals and objectives of the Mindanao Spatial Strategy/Mindanao Development Framework.

Along this line, RLUC IX reconstituted the Inter-Agency Map Team to update the thematic maps which were prepared more than a decade ago to conform to the changes  on  land use, recent spatial development and DRR/CCA. The members of the Map Team are:  DENR IX, MGB IX, EMB IX, DOST- Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment  for Mitigation (DREAM)-Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) Project  based at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, DA IX, BSWM IX and NEDA IX.

With inputs from the private sector, the body is optimistic that the framework to be formulated will be inclusive and holistic.  During the meeting,  RLUC IX PSR Engr. Antonio A. Sta. Elena also  took his oath of office.

The recently concluded meeting was well attended by representatives from the  regional line agencies and the LGUs  through their provincial and city planning and development coordinators. The attendees signified their commitment to actively participate in the forthcoming orientation and workshops for the preparation of the RSDF, 2015-2045.
