Economic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Arsenio Balisacan led the opening ceremony and delivered the keynote message for the celebration of the 25th National Statistics Month (NSM) held last October 1 at the Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.
Also among the highlights of the event was the awarding of the 6th NSM Media Awards which recognized 12 media organizations for their instrumental role in communicating, promoting and popularizing statistics useful in evidence-based planning and decision-making.
The winning news organizations awarded by Sec. Balisacan and National Statistician Lisa Grace Bersales were ABS-CBN, BusinessWorld, BusinessMirror, GMA-7, Manila Bulletin, Manila Standard Today, Manila Times, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Philippine Star, and Rappler.
