Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan joined the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in celebrating the 60 years of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) in the Philippines last August 7 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila.
Secretary Balisacan, in his speech on behalf of President Aquino, cited the landmark projects supported by Japan’s ODA and affirmed the continuous commitment of the Philippine government in strengthening its partnership with Japan.
The Philippines has received a total of JPY2.49 trillion in loans as part of Japan’s ODA, excluding substantial amount of grants over the course of the Philippine-Japan partnership. The ODAs have been instrumental in the country’s infrastructure development, in implementing sustainable projects for the environment and agriculture, and in developing human resources.
