Presidential Proclamation No. 1164, issued on February 28, 1998 declares every 4th week of September every year as Regional Development Council (RDC) Week. In consonance with the said issuance, the RDC week will be celebrated in the region on September 23-24 and 27, 2013 with events to be participated in by all Region XII line agencies, local government units and private sector representatives to the Council.

The celebration of RDC XII Week is geared towards : 1) improving RDC XII efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out its mandated functions through strengthening linkages and partnerships among member-agencies, LGUs and private sector representatives; 2) increasing awareness on the region’s updated regional development plan, investment program and priority programs and projects; and 3) generating support to the development of the tourism industry of the region.

The three-day celebration will take off with a fun run/walk on September 23, 2013 at 5:00 in the morning from the Gaisano Grand- Koronadal City ground to South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center. This will be followed by the conduct of Hataw exercises to be spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH) XII. A Pinoy breakfast will be served after the hataw. The opening program will proceed after the breakfast as well as the conduct of games for the executives with Pinoy traditional fun games to be participated in by the RDC XII/Sectoral Committee officials and members. This will be followed by the sports events of basketball, volleyball, swimming, dart and table tennis. A press conference will also be conducted in the afternoon that would focus on the activities of the celebration as well as on the updating of the Regional Development Plan 2014-2016.

An awarding ceremony for the winners during the sports events is scheduled in the afternoon of September 24 at the same venue.

>Capping this year’s celebration is the conduct of Tourism Summit in General Santos City on September 27, 2013 to be spearheaded by the Department of Tourism XII. (hlv-drd)
